Photo of the Day - 12/23/15 - Rain in the Woods

Photo taken at West Hartford Resovoir. As you can see I have really been enjoying photographing trees the fall/winter. Hopefully we'll get some snow soon.

Photo of the day - 12/22/15 - Evening Bird

A bird on a branch just after sunset. The sky was still lit up just enoigh to capture this sillouette.

(This photo isn't new, I actually shot it last year while living in Atlanta. Although it's one of my favorite photos I hadn't yet shared it here on my blog.)

Photo of the day - 12/20/15 - Foggy Hill

Another foggy morning nature walk photo to go with the last few I've posted.

I like how the hill behind the tree disappears into the fog. What is at the bottom?

Photo of the Day - 12/19/15 - Monument in the Fog

This a monument to Father Jerzy Popieluszko who was a priest and anti-communist activist in Poland who was abducted and killed in 1984 by communist government agents. It is located in Walnut Hill Park in New Britain Connecticut (about 2 blocks from my apartment). I walk around this park often and shot this photo on a foggy morning about a week ago. I thought it was interesting how the framework of the flame sculpture complemented the leaf-less winter trees.
A stone next to the monument is inscribed with the Polish "Zlo Dobrem Zwyciezaj" (Good Shall Vanquish Evil)

Photo of the Day - 12/18/15 - Foggy Tree

Another photo I shot in the park the same morning as my last 'photo of the day'. I really liked the odd disproportionate lengths of the branches reaching up to the sky.

Photo Blog Redesign

I'm happy to say that I just finished the redesign of this Photo Blog. Over the next week I will be working to redesign my portfolio website to have matching design along with new galleries.

As you have probably noticed from my recent photos, I have been focusing a lot more on my art lately rather than commercial photography so I am going with a lighter and more natural theme on my websites to match the new work.

Let me know what you think.

Photo of the day - 12/17/15 - Old Woman in the Fog

Something new I will be doing in order to keep myself engaged with this blog and keep posting new photos as I rebuild and restructure my website is to start posting a 'Photo of the day' as often as possible. These may be planned out conceptual photos or just random shots that I enjoy.

My first 'Photo of the day' is this shot of an old woman walking in the park on a foggy morning earlier this week. I was walking around the park by my apartment with my camera before work photographing the foggy landscape and took this random shot of the old woman walking which after downloading the photos from my camera and seeing it larger became my favorite one.

To me she looks like a witch from a fairy tale or mythological story walking through some haunted forest.

New Series/New Beginning

Hello everyone. I just wanted to make an update here to let you guys know some of the big things going on with my photography (and life!)

I have been moving around a lot these past several years that I have had this photo page and a lot of you I have met or connected with online along the way, from Boston MA in 2005 when I made this page in College, to breifly my hometown of Springfield MA in 2010, then to Fayetteville NC for most of 2011 while I was working on Fort Bragg, then living and working in Atlanta GA for the past about 4 years. As some of you know I relocated yet again to New Britain CT last month, I am planning to have my photography based here permanently for the forseeable future as I have a good job here, have great photo oppertunities, and am really enjoying the area and location in relation to friends, family, and nearby things to do.

The big news in relation to my photography is that I will be to some extent starting over and going in a more artistic rather than commercial direction. Over the next couple months I plan to rebuild my website from scratch and will be retiring a lot of the older work in my portfolios and narrowing down the rest into a single small 'commercial work' portfolio. I will still be available to hire for portrait & commercial projects but my website and online 'presence' will be entirely based around my new photo series that I am keeping somewhat secret for now.

After 10 years I am ready for something new and I feel like now is the time to do it. I'm looking forward to sharing some new photos this winter and hope you are too!
