Jason Ginman

I am a photographer based in New Britain, Connecticut. I have been shooting professionally on a freelance basis and working within the photography industry for ten years.

Early in my career I focused primarily on commercial portrait and editorial work, shooting musicians, models, and theater actors for promotional purposes or advertising. Although I am still open to commercial projects, I have recently begun focusing more on my own art photography which is a based around patterns and textures in nature and usually has a more dark and eerie feel since I take much of my inspiration from various folk tales and cultural mythologies.


Career Bio:

Originally from Western Massachusetts, I began my photography career in Boston in 2006 while attending the New England Institute of Art. Toward the end of college I had the good fortune of interning with award winning editorial photographers, assisting with both fine art and business photography projects for various corporate clients in the Boston area. 

Shortly after receiving my bachelor's degree from NEIA, I relocated to North Carolina for a position as a Civilian Photography Contractor at Fort Bragg Army Base where I lived and worked for about a year. Having never before been out of the New England area I saw the change of scene and climate as an adventure. In 2012 I relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to pursue my freelance Career in a new big city. I also worked as an image editor for a couple different school photography companies during this time.

Although I enjoyed living and working in Atlanta, after the birth of my daughter in 2014 and missing the northern climate and geography that I grew up with I again relocated this time about a thousand miles north to New Britain, Connecticut just south of Hartford and about two hours from both Boston and New York City.
