Moving to Atlanta in February
I will be moving to Atlanta, GA in February. I'm really looking forward to exploring a new city and meeting new people. I'm also looking forward to resuming a few of my creative projects after the big move. I will still be booking paid sessions in NC throughout January so if you would like to set up an appointment you still can, just email me at info@jasonginman.com.

Makeover for the website
I spent my day today finishing up the new graphics for the new version of my photography website and it is now online. Besides the obvious aesthetic changes, there is also now a gallery section for my 'dolls' project which I plan to update as I continue to work on the project and make new images.

Sneak Peak at the New Website Design
I decided to replace the multiple themed typefaces with a more simplistic layout in Helvetica. I chose this simpler approach because I beleive it will complement the images on my website without the graphic design competing or distracting from the images themselves.

"Dolls" Photo Book Project
I am currently in the process of shooting images for a photo book. I began the project back in early 2010 in Boston MA, after taking a break from the project for about a year I am continuing it in North Carolina and plan to finish it sometime in 2012 while living in Atlanta.
Working closely with a makeup artist and female models from different cities up and down the east coast I am creating a series of images of life sized dolls. These images will range in theme from classic beauty to somewhat creepy and disturbing and everywhere in between. Most images are shot on location in diverse urban areas but some brighter studio images will also be included before the project is finished.

Trying new things...
Being a little more creative in my editing process. I'd possibly like to eventually put together a series of several head-shots done in this style on different color backdrops.

Big website changes...
I'm going to be cleaning up my galleries and deleting some photos to make room for some new work. I'm somewhat reinventing my portfolio, being a little more experimental, and attempting to get away from photography clichés and overdone styles. I want to make some new work that will truly stand out.
The website layout itself will reflect these changes and get a complete makeover as I rework my portfolio galleries over the next month or two.

Daily Photo - 9-8-11 (Banana Spider)
A Banana Spider under my neighbor's deck. It was almost the size of my hand.
Golden Silk Spiders also known as 'Banana Spiders' are generally harmless and eat a lot of more annoying bugs so they're actually good to keep around. I kind of hope one moves in under my deck now.

Downtown Crossing, Boston MA in 2008
This photo was taken in 2008 at Boston's Downtown Crossing shopping area not far from where I lived at the time. On the left you can see part of the original Filene's building which was demolished later the same year after they were bought out by Macy's. Next time I am in Boston I am going to photograph the same scene to see how it has changed.

Daily Photo - 8-17-11 (Spider Thread)
Yesterday I came home to find my new Sigma 28 -105 f2.8 lens had come in the mail. I immediately wanted to test it out and play around with it's very shallow depth of field. I took this shot of a spider's thread hanging between two branches of a plant. There is a slight blur as it was swaying in the wind, considering how thin it really was I think the lens was able to focus on it pretty well.

Daily Photo - 8-15-11 (Teagan Marie)
This one was actually shot last night. It is a slightly dark and humorous take on the usual lingerie ad photo style.

Daily Photo - 8-11-11 (Thirsty Moth)
I caught a shot of this moth landing on a flower in my front yard as I was drinking coffee on my porch this morning. If you look closely you can see his feeding 'straw'.

Daily Photo - Ziplining
My first daily photo was taken while I was on an assignment shooting photos for a feature in September's issue of The Fayetteville Feed about Zipquest (a Zip Lining Course) in Fayetteville, NC. As I am not permitted to share any photos from the Feed article until it goes to print next month I am instead sharing a picture of myself on the course taken with my camera by one of the ziplining instructers/guides. This will give an idea of the experience as well as give a preview of some of the images taken while riding the ziplines that I will be posting next month when the issue goes to print.
