Return of the 'Dolls' Project!

A couple weekends ago I had my first shoot for my 'Dolls' project in a couple years, this time with Atlanta based model Nicole Nedley. We did some long exposure shots with candles and went with a spooky tea party theme in some of the images.

Here are a couple samples:

I plan to continue shooting with different models for this project pretty regularly from now on until I have enough quality images to put together my book.

For her first studio shoot she really did a great job!

Fun With Lighting

I did a mock fashion shoot last night in the studio with Teagan to test out my new solid black seamless background and barndoor/honeycomb diffuser. I played around with a few different lighting arrangements before settling on this one which I'll probably be using somewhat regularly with fashion shoots from now on. It's a simple setup with the honeycomb on the main strobe at a roughly 45 degree angle with very little fill light.

Guess Who?

This was a bit of a test shoot experimenting with pushing the limits of my usual style. I hardly ever shoot digital photos in black and white. I felt that with the right theme it might still be able to work for me, in this case a 'vintage' advertising look.

What do you think?

"Dolls" Photo Book Project

I am currently in the process of shooting images for a photo book. I began the project back in early 2010 in Boston MA, after taking a break from the project for about a year I am continuing it in North Carolina and plan to finish it sometime in 2012 while living in Atlanta.

Working closely with a makeup artist and female models from different cities up and down the east coast I am creating a series of images of life sized dolls. These images will range in theme from classic beauty to somewhat creepy and disturbing and everywhere in between. Most images are shot on location in diverse urban areas but some brighter studio images will also be included before the project is finished.

Daily Photo - 8-15-11 (Teagan Marie)

This one was actually shot last night. It is a slightly dark and humorous take on the usual lingerie ad photo style.
